Our 5th wedding anniversary celebration this year was in the 'coffee land' of Karnataka. Its about 4hrs from Bangalore by road. http://g.co/maps/d3532 We drove there by ourselves. Left Bangalore at around 8 AM. We took the Magadi road from Kengeri Satellite Town and reached Kunigal around 9.Further near Yadiyur we stopped for breakfast in Hotel Mayura. This is nice place to rest. Has a children play area and enough of parking. It was 10:30 when we started from here. From then we drove non stop to Chikmagalur. We had booked our stay at Scenic Acres Homestay. This is 5kms from Chikmagalur on the Mulyangiri road near to the Mountain View School & College. Belongs to the Sargod family and is maintained well. Had a memorable stay here.
We reached the place around 1:15PM. We would have reached earlier if I had not driven a 10km stretch from Hassan to Belur :). We had a heavy lunch and rested for a while. Around 5:30PM we went to visit the MG park also known as the Ratnagiri park. A real surprise was waiting for us here. Guess what???!!!!!!!!! There was a toy train in the park. Don't know about our son but we both enjoyed thoroughly. There is also a musical fountain show for about half an hour from 6:30 to 7:00PM.
That was all the excitement we could handle for a day. Had a delicious dinner with yummy custard fruit salad for dessert. Next morning after breakfast we left for the Mullyangiri Hills. This is the highest peak in Karnataka. This was about 18kms from our homestay. A real adventurous path to drive. At one point where no two vehicles could cross, we faced one. If one of us wouldn't have been careful it would have been a 6000ft drop down. OMG!!!! was this scary or what!!!!
Once we reach the top we need to climb 500 steps to reach its peak. We chose not to do this. Spent some time there and reached back at around 12:15PM. Soon after that we checked out and were on our way to Belur. This wasn't in our plan but as it is on our way back to Bangalore, we decided to visit it as well. Had lunch in Belur in Hotel Shankara. Left Belur at around 2:30PM and reached Bangalore at 6:00PM. Wonderful weekend spent in the coffee land.
